This is the Official Prairie Dog Comics Blog!!! 09-12-07: It looks like I’m Continuing my Bi-monthly posting schedule, just kidding. Well fall is almost here and school has started back up. We are still selling our way through Civil War, World War Hulk, Countdown and many other books. On the gaming front, Magic 10th edition has been a very popular set along with Fires of Outland for Warcraft. Spider-Man has started the One More Day storyline which promises to hold big changes for the web slinger. DC is still counting down and you don't want to miss an issue of the main title and tie-ins. On the gaming front Magic is set to release Lorwyn in a month and the buzz is good. Stop by for pricing on that or anything else. Well I will try to update with a little more frequency, like maybe once a month! :) But I will try to get a new entry next week also, there is a lot going on. Till next time...
----Neil 07-11-07: Wow been awhile hasn't it, well for those of you that have been MIA for the past few weeks I have some news. Matt has left our humble store. Yes he has moved on to another full time gig. Our new store manager is Melissa. She has worked at B Dalton Books before coming to work for us last summer. In other news summer is half over and the blockbusters are here. Stop by and discuss which your favorites are with any of the staff. I myself have a tie between Transformers and Die Hard as to my favorite so far. World War Hulk is going strong and selling out of most of the tie-ins, be sure to ask if you don’t see the issue you are looking for. Two other top sellers right now are X-Men Endangered Species and Countdown. The X-men story is a 17 part backup story running through the X Titles for the next three months. Countdown is the follow up to the hit DC series 52. It is another weekly book and has been a solid seller. I would also like to introduce the new employees here at the Dog. Hugo will be working out front helping with customers. Kory and Nick will be working in the back. Well that should do it for now, feel free to let me know what’s going on or what you’re reading. Till next time…hopefully not 4 months from now.
----Neil
02-17-07: Well it's Saturday and the weather is going to be great for a change. This would be a great time to come in and get some comics and gaming. We have got a lot of gaming on sale at 50% off. Today is also the Wichita Boardgamers group's meeting at the Dog. Of course we also have Heroclix today at 1:00 pm and Yu-Gi-Oh tomorrow at 1:00 pm, check out the event page for details. Civil war issue #7 is due next week, we will finally get to see how it concludes. There is only 9 short weeks until WWIII hits the DC Universe. In case you didn't know we have computerized our Pull List Program. It is very streamlined and makes the weekly hold much easier. We are still organizing the store and bringing stuff from the warehouse to the main store, if you don't see it just ask. We can also get your Comic books CGC graded. We handle the hassle of shipping them to and from and you get a slabbed comic for a decent price. Well That's about it for now. Be sure to check out the Picks page for the staff's weekly choices. I'll update again for next week's picks on Wednesday. ---Neil 02-14-07: Hey our Picks now have their own page! Also check out our new featured comics page! 02-11-07: OK, I know I said I would update about DC and here it is. 52 continues to ship every week and is a top seller. As it enters the final stretch we have WWIII to look forward to. It is scheduled to take place in issue 50 and promises to "shake the world." A new Brave and the Bold series is starting this month with art by George Pérez and written by Mark Waid. In this past week and already sold out is Shazam the Monster Society of Evil by Jeff Smith. This went so fast I didn't even get a chance to read it myself. We have a limited number of copies coming in on reorder so call us to reserve yours. I would like to end with a sad note. Y the Last Man is ending. This month gives us a single issue story before the final arc begins. This has been one on my favorite books in the past few years and I'm sad to see it go. On a related note, Warren Ellis has his first novel coming out soon. Entitled Heart Of America, it is a story about a private detective hired to retrieve the US Constitution. Should be a good read. Well that's about it for now, next time I will have my picks for the Week of Feb 14th...comics on Valentines day! ---Neil 02-07-07: Dark Tower is here!!! Come and get your copy. DC update to follow. 02-03-07: Just wanted to get things started by saying thanks to everyone who showed up for our Planar Chaos draft last night. It was a great success. Also, a reminder. This coming Tuesday night at Midnight is the Dark Tower release. Come in even if you don't read Stephen King, we will be selling that week's comics at the event. So come and get a jump on your reading. We are continuing to restock comics back issues, Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh singles, gaming and more. The snow has not stopped us, we have been open everyday during this winter's weather. We may close early, so call ahead to find out. Well Civil War is almost over and you know what that means...The Initiative. This will be the story running through the marvel books this spring, details to follow. And Don't forget about Back in Black, the new Spider-Man crossover. Well that's it for now, I will update you on the DC universe tomorrow. ---Neil Neil's picks for the week for 2-7-07: Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born #1. Read how Roland becomes the Gunslinger of Stephen King's epic tale. Newuniversal #3. Read Warren Ellis' take on the Marvel's New Universe from the 1980's.
